12/9/2018 0 Comments TIPS FOR SOLO TRAVELLING IN 2019IT IS A MUST FOR MANY PEOPLE TO EXPLORE THE WORLD - IT IS TOO BEAUTIFUL TO STAY IN ONE PLACE FOREVER. SOLO TRAVELLING CAN BE A GREAT WAY TO GO AND DO THINGS YOU WANT TO DO.Travelling solo is an incredible experience. Yes, it can be tough and sometimes lonely, but it challenges you to take yourself out of your comfort zone (often literally.) There are things you will learn along the way when travelling alone, but it is always helpful to prepare yourself beforehand. Here are a few tips to help you on your way if this is something you are planning to do: 1. Your phone will be your best friend whilst you're travelling. From communication, maps to taking pictures, it is better to be safe than sorry. Make sure that you keep it safely stored at all times to protect it from being stolen, as well as having insurance and investing in a waterproof case. 2. Pack light. The last thing you want is to be carrying a heavy suitcase around inner city streets. Take a small backpack with you on your adventures so that you have all your necessities to hand. 3. Board planes as early as you can so you have no trouble getting your carry-on luggage in the overhead lockers. 4. It’s always good to bring light snacks and water with you everywhere you go. You may not have the time of facilities on your travel to get food and drink, so always be prepared to stay nourished. 5. Learn a few simple words from the language of the place you’re visiting so you can communicate better with locals. Not only is it useful for you but also shows respect to the culture. 6. Always make sure someone at home knows where you are and what you’re doing. Whether that’s using Find Your Friends or even a shared Google Doc with accommodation details, it gives family & friends some peace of mind and makes sure your protected, even on the other side of the world. 7. Travelling by yourself may feel lonely at times, so it is always worth joining in on tours and meeting other groups to make some new friends. Hostels are also a great way to connect with other travelers and are much cheaper than staying at local hotels. 8. Be aware of your surroundings. Some places may be more tourist-friendly than others so stay alert and know an exit route for your safety. 9. Don't just listen to TripAdvisor. Knowing what you want to do and visit is great, but speaking to locals will reveal some of the best spots in the area, as people around you may know best. 10. Embrace the culture you’re surrounded by. Don’t just stand by and take photos, take these opportunities by the hand and learn as much as you can. 11. Get to know your map, study it and use easily identifiable landmarks to find your way around the area. 12. Have confidence in yourself and your abilities. Travelling alone can be difficult but you are capable of so much more than you know, and this is your time to shine. JASMIN MAHMOODFeature Writer for INSYNC-MK
